I can 100% completely related to your story. I have severe IBS and I am on Tramadol (Ultram) for pain, and 40mg of Paxil for anxiety and stress related issues that make my IBS worse. I also completely changed my diet and what I drink. I no longer drink ANY alcohol or eat any eggs, since those just made it completely worse. I have lost almost 25 lbs in the last 2 1/2 months from my IBS. I hope the track my dr. has put me will help. I get severe abdominal cramping attacks, where it feels like my colon is gonna explode that I just recently had an Emergency Room trip and got 2 doses of Ativan (lorazepam) and Dilaudid pain meds through IV. Hang in there. I am going right along with you. BTW, I am a 31 year old female with 2 children, and I also suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and duodenal ulcer, and chronic pain in my bowels and ovaries.

Stop seeing the doctors. Im constantly ill and have tried so many different and dangerous meds, tried eating better and less food so my stomach wouldnt be as irritated but i think much of it is the stress of always dealing with it and going back and forth to doctors

Mt problem is a little different. I went to the ER almost 2 years ago with what felt like severe heart burn. Told them I had that but that I also would sometimes go several days with no bowel movement and then several days with diahrhea. They said it was my gall bladder and removed it and nothing really changed at all. Over the past couple of months the symtoms have gotten worse and I was first treated for kidney infection, then hospitialized after they found inflamation in my seperior mesentaric artery. During my hospital stay they also found I have severe errosion of the esophogus and bleeding stomach ulcers. I have been put on medication for the ulcers, medication for IBS, and special diets for both as well. Yet the pain is still there and the last few days I have had diarhea so bad I cannot leave my home, today I have even had issues making it to the bathroom in my home in enough time. Earlier this week my GI doc ordered a colonoscopy but it will not be done until Jan and my problems are getting worse at a very fast rate. I am only 35 years old and I see a urologist, family doc and Gi doc on a bi weekly basis and still nothing changes. I know noone on here is a doctor but I have gotten very little results from the docs and they have ran countless tests already. I am at my wits end if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

I agree. My Doctor scheduled an ultra sound to ensure that I didn't have gallstones and then rxed an anti spasmodic or peppermint oil capsules and told me to avoid fatty foods. He didn't even call me for a follow up but had an asst call to tell me the results of the ultrasound (no stones). No blood testing, no urine sample. Took my money and that is it. So frustrating. I went to a nutritionist who was able to access the helpforibs.com website. That has been helpful. But who knows if i actually have ibs? I have only been eating soluble fibers (strictly for a few days) since yesterday and feel a bit better...but I do drink coffee and it isn't hurting me. I'm very frustrated with this whole process.

I have severe IBS and every doc I go to is an idiot. They never want to help and my IBS keeps getting worse. I changed my lifestyle and so I'm living super healthy but still it only helps a tiny bit.

I have just been diagnosed with Ibs about a month ago. I know I've had it for years but was to afraid to see the GI. I finally went and I'm not sure he helped as much as I wanted him to. I guess I kind of knew what he was going to tell me. He gave me a medicine for spasms which helps some, but not everything. I took my meds today and left work early because well...you know the rest. I think I'm kind of starting to get used to the whole idea, but I just hate not knowing when I'm going to have a bad day like today.

Cool. I'd just stay up on it and see someone when you can. There's all kinds of free care you can take advantage of. Seeing a Gastro Dr is the first step if you don't have a primary care Dr.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

i'm not sure, i was just told my bowel moved constantly, yes i'm producing waste. Sort of, i kept seeing my doctor, but i've stopped because she wasn't helping much and also thought i was pregnant. i do plan to try and see a gastrointerologist. right now though, i don't have the money, and i'm not health inssured. i know i spelled that wrong. i know your not a professional doctor or anything, i just thought i'd ask for your opinion.
Thanks!

Kasey, of course I'm no doctor but I'm trying here to just share what I've gone through. Are they constantly moving or you're actually producing waste from your bowels?

I assume you are still under medical care?
