I can 100% completely related to your story. I have severe IBS and I am on Tramadol (Ultram) for pain, and 40mg of Paxil for anxiety and stress related issues that make my IBS worse. I also completely changed my diet and what I drink. I no longer drink ANY alcohol or eat any eggs, since those just made it completely worse. I have lost almost 25 lbs in the last 2 1/2 months from my IBS. I hope the track my dr. has put me will help. I get severe abdominal cramping attacks, where it feels like my colon is gonna explode that I just recently had an Emergency Room trip and got 2 doses of Ativan (lorazepam) and Dilaudid pain meds through IV. Hang in there. I am going right along with you. BTW, I am a 31 year old female with 2 children, and I also suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and duodenal ulcer, and chronic pain in my bowels and ovaries.

Stop seeing the doctors. Im constantly ill and have tried so many different and dangerous meds, tried eating better and less food so my stomach wouldnt be as irritated but i think much of it is the stress of always dealing with it and going back and forth to doctors

There has been a medication available specifically to treat IBS is alosetron hydrochloride (Lotronex). Lotronex has been reapproved with significant restrictions by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for women with severe IBS who have not responded to conventional therapy and whose primary symptom is diarrhea. However, even in these patients, Lotronex should be used with great caution because it can have serious side effects such as severe constipation or decreased blood flow to the colon. With any medication, even over–the–counter medications such as laxatives and fiber supplements, it is important to follow the doctor’s instructions. Some people report a worsening in abdominal bloating and gas from increased fiber intake, and laxatives can be habit forming if they are used too frequently.

I also have depression and anxiety and have had IBS for about 10 years. I find the higher my level of anxiety and worse my depression is, the more severe are my IBS symptoms. This makes perfect sense, as the neurotransmitter that affects mood (seratonin) is the same one that controls smooth muscle contractions (i.e. your gut).

After many years my Dr. and I finally found something that works to control the nausea, bloating and diarrhea. It's called Dicetel and I find taking it twice a day has made a huge difference.

Mt problem is a little different. I went to the ER almost 2 years ago with what felt like severe heart burn. Told them I had that but that I also would sometimes go several days with no bowel movement and then several days with diahrhea. They said it was my gall bladder and removed it and nothing really changed at all. Over the past couple of months the symtoms have gotten worse and I was first treated for kidney infection, then hospitialized after they found inflamation in my seperior mesentaric artery. During my hospital stay they also found I have severe errosion of the esophogus and bleeding stomach ulcers. I have been put on medication for the ulcers, medication for IBS, and special diets for both as well. Yet the pain is still there and the last few days I have had diarhea so bad I cannot leave my home, today I have even had issues making it to the bathroom in my home in enough time. Earlier this week my GI doc ordered a colonoscopy but it will not be done until Jan and my problems are getting worse at a very fast rate. I am only 35 years old and I see a urologist, family doc and Gi doc on a bi weekly basis and still nothing changes. I know noone on here is a doctor but I have gotten very little results from the docs and they have ran countless tests already. I am at my wits end if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
